For I/O module series

Classic CANopen and CANopen FD support

Together with its partner Embedded Systems Academy (Emsa), Peak-System offers classic CANopen and CANopen FD support for all devices based on the I/O module PCAN-Micromod FD.

The companies are both located in Germany (Source: Peak-System)

Licenses can be purchased on the Emsa website, each of which is valid for one PCAN-Micromod FD. Activation is done online via Windows software using an activation code. The user can then switch freely between the Classical CAN/CAN FD, classic CANopen, and CANopen FD operating modes. EDS files are available for download for PCAN-Micromod FD products (we reported here and here) to configure the classic CANopen or CANopen FD functionality. Furthermore, the evaluation board of the same series is now delivered with a free license.

Background

CANopen FD is an advancement of classic CANopen, a communication system based on CAN FD. It comprises higher-layer protocols and profile specifications. CANopen FD has been developed with special regard to making use of CAN FD’s higher data throughput, by keeping the key-attributes of CANopen.
