Elevator controllers comply with CiA 417

Hydroware presented at the Nordic Lift Expo its CiA 417 compatible products. This included car drive units, car position sensor units, and host controllers.

The Swedish company has developed controllers and units for CANopen Lift networks. The Traction-Elite and the Hydro-Elite controller use the same user interface. Both products comply with the CiA 417 application profile specifications. The Traction-Elite solutions (MR & MRL) are intended for modernization of lift control systems. The Hydro-Elite systems (Veni & Vidi) are developed for new elevators. The car drive units are based on hydraulic actuators.

Hydro-Elite systems are equipped with a servo-valve that makes it possible for the elevator to go direct to floor, without creeping. The valve also makes it possible that no bypass of the oil at full speed upwards is required. It reduces travel time and energy consumption compared to traditional electronic valves.

The decentralized elevator control system comprises a host controller inside the shaft and a user interface box outside of the lift shaft. The provided 10-inch touch display comes with instruction movies, integrated diagnostic tool, and simplified training sessions. The company offers also a gateway to the Hydrocloud services for pre-emptive maintenance and other tasks.

Modernization, or elevator renovation, means that the elevator is upgraded by replacing parts such as drive system, electronics, etc. The elevator frame and other parts, which can live for several generations, can be preserved and become part of the upgraded elevator. The modernized elevator should meet today’s safety and legal requirements, gets superior travel comfort, and becomes more energy efficient. Modernization is especially in Europe an important trend and business.
