Artificial intelligence and machine learning permeate all areas of life and do not stop at embedded systems. Ginzinger Electronic Systems offers its customers a customized embedded hardware platform for applications with AI and machine learning.

Al and ML do not stop at embedded systems. But what can these technologies achieve in embedded systems? Regardless of the use case, what they all have in common is that very large amounts of data have to be processed with high computing power in a short time, explained the company. This is how most applications run in the cloud. However, there are also areas where cloud integration is not possible or desired. Therefore, it is necessary to run Al and ML algorithms directly in the embedded system. More and more application processors and micro-controllers today already offer the functions and performance needed for this.

Embedded Al platform

To exploit the added value of AI directly in devices, the company offers a embedded Al platform for different industry segments. The integrated embedded Linux platform provides AI directly in the device. This opens up a field of unimagined possibilities for new business areas for customers, said the company.

The platform based on an i.MX8 M+ consists of hardware modules paired with the Gelin Embedded Linux Suite. Developers have machine learning tools at their disposal to realize Al and ML applications including model building in a short time, explained the company. Two CAN FD interfaces for communication are provided.

The hardware platform with neural processing unit (NPU) allows demanding applications offline and directly in the device without depending on the availability of network connections or cloud computing. Sensitive data is protected and remains local. Ginzinger offers turnkey evaluation kits with sample projects and webinars to test the possibilities of AI and ML.

At the Embedded World 2023 in March, the company showed its visitors application possibilities of AI and ML with the Al evaluation board iMX 8M Plus in Nuremberg. In addition, customer projects from various industrial sectors were presented.
