Thermocouple scanner

Data acquisition on up to 20 channels

Axiomatic Technologies released the AX185000 thermocouple scanner suitable for use in J1939-connectable power generation control systems.

The device monitors up to 20 thermocouples and provides the temperature information to the engine control system via the SAE J1939 network. The system features the automatic bit-rate detection for communication via the CAN network. The input channels are independently configurable as Type J, K, B, E, N, R, S, or T thermocouples.

For example, the acquired temperature information can include the exhaust temperature, winding temperature, and fluid temperature monitoring. The measured temperature data of all 20 channels is automatically sent over the connected CAN network when power is applied. No additional programming or configuration is required. Integral diagnostics determine thermocouple’s integrity, said the manufacturer. All inputs are isolated from the CAN lines and from the power supply.

During the set-up, which can be done via an USB-to-CAN converter and a PC, the operator can configure the scanner via the Axiomatic Electronic Assistant software to suit a variety of applications. Settings are saved to a non-volatile memory upon command. The device features a rugged packaging and watertight IP67-rated TE Deutsch connectors. The unit is suitable for use in control systems for industrial and marine power generator sets (stationary or portable).
