Automotive WDGA encoders for every CAN application

Save as PDF

Robust WDGA encoder series with their proven environmental resistance to temperature, vibration and shock are ideal for use in e.g. mobile machinery or construction vehicles. With company’s long-term experience in this field, the encoders have been developed to be particularly compact and robust. The used Endra and Quattromag technologies ensure precise and long-lasting use in outdoor applications. WDGA encoders have been used worldwide for many years in wind turbines, construction cranes, truck cranes, AGVs, storage and stacker cranes, salt spreaders, drilling machines for exploration, or vertical drilling machines.

Features

  • Interfaces: CAN, CANopen, CANopenLift, SAE J1939
  • Endra multi-turn technology: maintenance-free
  • Quattromag single-turn technology: up to 16-bit resolution
  • High shaft loads: up to 400 N
  • Protection class: up to IP67 and IP69K
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C up to +85 °C

LMSCA length measurement system: ultra-compact, robust, quickly mounted

The patented tooth grid has been developed for simple and definite mounting for a longer service life. The LMSCA is rigidly mounted using the multiple mounting options, with the measuring wheel placed loosely on the moving material. The teeth are loosened with only one central screw, which is secure against loss, and a defined force of the measuring or gear wheel is applied to the material with the tooth grid. The system includes an encoder and a 200-mm measuring wheel.

In combination with the WDGA encoder, a very compact system has been designed which can be used in very tight installation situations. The system has been used for many years, especially in road markers, storage and stacker cranes, and tree trunk saws.

Features

  • Space-saving and reliable measurement system for position, speed and length
  • Including encoder and a 200-mm measuring or gear wheel
  • CAN, CANopen and incremental (NFC configurable) interfaces
  • Suitable for many surfaces
  • Contact pressure – easily adaptable by smart central adjustment and grid
  • Quickly mounted and adjusted

SZG draw-wire system: large measuring range in a compact design

The SZG series of draw-wire systems is equipped with absolute encoders of the WDGA series. The extremely robust and precise mechanics, in combination with a stainless-steel wire, have a very long life-expectancy. Cable lengths of 1,25 m to 40 m and a wide range of usable resolutions and interfaces give you the opportunity to determine the required draw-wire system for your application.

With the suitable WDGA encoder, you get a draw-wire system that can be ideally integrated into your installation situation. The system has been used for many years, especially for forklift trucks, storage and stacker cranes, mobile cranes, and crane jibs.

Features

  • Interfaces: CAN, CANopen, and others
  • Robust and compact draw-wire systems from 1,25 m up to 40 m
  • High-precision mechanics with high linearity
  • Long lifetime in harsh environment
  • Quick assembly

Redundant encoder WDGE 58B: absolute (magnetic) and incremental (optical)

The redundant and diverse WDGE encoder offers two completely independent signals with independent power supplies. The incremental part provides up to 5000 ppr (TTL or HTL) signals, which are optically sensed. The absolute part generates an absolute signal from a magnetic sensor system for an application with single- or multi-turn functionality. Different interfaces and higher-layer protocols such as CAN, CANopen, and SSI can be used.

This encoder is ideal for implementing safety-related applications without a safety controller or protocol. The flattened shaft with a very high bearing load ensures a solid mechanical construction. With the help of redundancy and diverse technology, high safety levels can be achieved. The high MTTFd values enable you to design a reliable solution. Typical applications are AGVs and mobile cranes.

Features

  • Redundant: two independent encoders in one housing
  • Diversity: two measuring principles (optical / magnetic)
  • Interfaces: CAN, CANopen, CANopenLift, SSI
  • Incremental part: up to 5,000 ppr
  • Compact design with bus cover
  • High shaft loads: up to 400 N
  • Protection class up to IP67 and IP69K
  • Operating temperature: -40 °C up to +85 °C
