Tech Days worldwide

ISO CAN FD is on the track. The responsible ISO expert group has finalized the document and has submitted it for DIS (Draft International Standard) balloting.

The CANopen SIG (Special Interest Group) application layer plans to release version 5.0 of the CiA 301 specification at the Embedded-World 2015. It will support the ISO CAN FD data link layer with payloads up to 64 byte. And the CiA IG (Interest Group) commercial vehicles has started to specify an ISO CAN FD compliant physical layer for trucks and buses. An application layer using the 64-byte data field is also under development. It will make use of the PGN definitions given in SAE J1939-71. In order to inform engineers all over the world, CiA will schedule a series of Tech Days in Germany, Europe, and North America as well as in China and Japan. CiA is looking for members sponsoring these one-day events. The focus and topics may differ depending on the regional requirements. The scheduled Tech Days are listed on CiA’s website. CiA will also organize so-called plugfest, in which member companies can proof the compatibility and interoperability of their CAN FD devices. Recently, a CAN FD plugfest took place in Germany. More detailed information is reported in the CAN Newsletter Online magazine. For more information please contact CiA office (secretary(at)can-cia.org).
