CiA has released internally the version 1.1. of CiA 602-2 specifying the mapping of J1939 PGs to CAN FD frames. The document includes all by SAE assigned PGNs. For more information write to secretary(at)can-cia.org.
Pin-assignment for Micro-Fit 3.0 connectors
The recently released version 1.9 of the CiA 303-1 recommendation for connector pin-assignments provides layout improvements. It also introduces the pin-assignment for the Micro-Fit 3.0 connector. You can download it here.
CiA assigns LIN Supplier ID
CiA has been appointed by ISO as the Registration Authority for the LIN Supplier ID. According to ISO 17987-3, every device implementing the LIN protocol needs to provide a supplier ID. More info: lin(at)can-cia.org.
CiA 601-1 version 2.0
The CAN FD implementation guideline recommends how to design the physical layer interface for devices. Especially, recommendations for the symmetry and the transmitter delay are given. More info: headquarters(at)can-cia.org.
CiA 601-2 version 1.0
The CAN FD interface specification describes the host controller interface. This includes special modes, buffer organization, control and status lines as well as bit-timing registers. More info: headquarters(at)can-cia.org.
Modular vehicle communication IF
The updated ISO 22900-2 standard (MVCI – D-PDU API) defines a CAN FD bit-timing, which needs additional specifications for topology and network length. Interested parties may contact standard(at)can-cia.org.
Minor corrections
CiA has released updated versions for CiA 402-2 (motion control profile) and CiA 422-2 as well as CiA 422-3 (CleANopen) correcting some editorial and minor errors. For more information please contact service(at)can-cia.org.
CiA 408 version 2.0.1
The CANopen profile for fluid power devices has been released as version 2.0.1. It is based on the bus-independent profile by VDMA, the German association of machine builders. For more information please contact service(at)can-cia.org.
The problems are solved, not by giving new information, but by arranging what we have known since long.
CiA community
The CAN community is huge. More than two billion of CAN nodes are installed annually. And this figure is still growing. The number of CAN fellows organized in the nonprofit CiA users’ and manufacturers’ group is much smaller. Due to new CAN data link layer (CAN XL and CAN FD Light) and new CAN physical medium attachment developments (CAN SIC and CAN SIC XL), the membership is growing, too. There are also new members interested in CiA profile developed for new markets such as battery management, fire-fighting equipment, etc.
“We take the already existing ideas in communication technology as well as in human communication, arrange them newly, and new specifications and recommendations are born,” said Holger Zeltwanger, CiA Managing Director.
