CiA Marketing Group “Suomi” established

Vaasa, Finland, June 15, 2010. The international nonprofit CiA (CAN in Automation) users’ and manufacturers’ group has established a Finnish Marketing Group (MG). Objectives include scheduling of CAN/CANopen seminars in Finnish language, promotion of CAN/CANopen in Finland, maintaining of the CiA website in Finnish language, and organizing other joint marketing activities of CiA members. The first scheduled events are the CAN Application Day in December; the group calls for application-oriented papers. The other scheduled event is a CANopen plug-fest, in which the participating companies like to proof the interoperability of CANopen devices. In the inaugural meeting Mikko Råberg (TK Engineering) was elected as chairman. Other CiA members active in the MG Suomi include Epec, Metropolia university (Helsinki), and Wapice.
CAN (Controller Area Network) is a well-established data link layer protocol and CANopen is the application layer for embedded control systems. CiA has been established in 1992 and has more than 500 members worldwide, 14 of them are headquartered in Finland. The MG Suomi will organize a joint CiA booth at Automaatio 2011 in Helsinki.
