CiA® 410: CANopen device profile for inclinometer
The CiA 410 device profile specifies the CANopen interface for single- and double-axis inclination sensors with 16-bit or 32-bit resolutions. One-axis inclinometers provide only longitudinal slope axis value. Two-axis inclinometers provide additionally lateral slope axis values. These values are mapped into Transmit-PDOs by default, which are transmitted synchronously. The slope value (displayed value) is the sum of the physical measurement (true value), differential offset and offset.
The profile does not specify a sensor principle. Many inclinometers use a conductimetric principle: Within a ceramic container filled with an electrical conductive fluid, two platinum electrodes measure the electronic conductivity. These electrodes are planar-mounted on a sensor substrate and connected to the floor space of the container.
With the inclination sensor the x- and y- axis is evaluated independently from each other. Optional software limit switches for the minimum and maximum values allow the supervising of an admissible range of operation. In order to be able to control circuit processes in dependence of the particular inclination, cam values may be programmed with a hysteresis in the sensor.
