Time-stamp protocol

The Time-stamp object is used in order to adjust the global network time. The Time-stamp producer provides the current time and all network participants that consume this message adjust their local clocks according to the received timing data. This enables the system designer to coordinate device behaviors on different network participants via the unique network time.

Time-stamp configuration

In case the Time-stamp object is used for adjusting the unique network time, at least the object 1012h has to be configured within each device. Within this object the user configures whether this device acts as time-stamp consumer or producer. With regard to any specific Time-stamp object, only one device is configured as producer.

Time-stamp protocol implementation

More information on implementing the Time-stamp protocol is provided here (Chapter: Device design).
