  • Publication of specifications

    CiA develops CAN-based specifications such as application layers as well as device, application, and interface profiles and promotes their international standardization, e.g. in ISO and IEC standards. CiA member companies need these standards to be able to deal with the increasing complexity of networked systems: Standards enable device designers to focus their developments on device know-how rather than communication details; they enable system designers to use devices from several sources within the same network.

  • Publications

    CiA publishes the free-of-charge technical magazine “CAN Newsletter” with in-depth technical articles and detailed application reports. The product-oriented news and reports are published in our new CAN Newsletter Online. System and device designers looking for components, devices, software or services related to CAN, CANopen and J1939 have access to the CiA Product Guides for free.

  • Seminars, In-house seminars, and consulting services

    CiA provides training for CAN users, manufacturers, managers or students. These trainings deal with CAN and CAN-based higher-layer protocols for specific target groups or specific application fields. The trainings are available with fixed agendas as seminars, or with individual agendas as In-house seminars.
    In-house seminars are offered for companies that have specific CAN or CANopen training requirements. The agenda of an in-house seminar is tailored to the customer’s needs. CiA trainers educate not only device designers and system integrators. They also train sales forces, marketing departments, and technical management.
    Besides such in-house seminars, CiA provides general consultancy services. These include specification and evaluation of proprietary CAN-based higher-layer protocols and company-specific CANopen profiles. In addition, CiA supports companies, when they select CAN-based communication technologies, in particular higher-layer protocols and physical layer. All consultancy services are device-, and manufacturer-independent! CiA also examines CAN-based devices and systems in order to evaluate them.

  • Conferences and informational events

    CAN dominates a large variety of research, technical innovations, and application fields. CiA enables the exchange of these ideas in international and national conferences. The international CAN Conference takes place about every 18 months in a different location. National CAN Conferences are arranged as specific interests arise in countries or regions. In the CANopen Application Days, users talk about their applications and experiences using CANopen.

    The CANopen conformance testing and certification service is based upon the CANopen Conformance Test, which is available as software tool for purchase from CiA.

    CiA offers the only official CANopen conformance testing and certification service. This service is available to users and manufacturers alike, member or non-members of CiA.

  • Interoperability test

    CAN in Automation is proud to offer from this day forward the service of interoperability testing in CAN in Automation`s testing laboratory.
