Off-highway and off-road vehicle devices
Electronic control units (ECU) for off-highway and off-road vehicles often require special protection rates and an extended temperature range. These vehicles often use J1939-based networks to link the power-train ECUs and other devices. For agricultural and forestry machines, the J1939-based Isobus is internationally standardized (ISO 11783 series of documents).
Some of these vehicles use CANopen to interconnect body electronics. Examples include devices for crane overload protection, inclinometers, joysticks, hydraulic valves, GSM/GPRS gateways, etc. Besides devices that implement generic CANopen profiles, there are also specific devices that comply to dedicated CANopen application profiles.
