Rail-vehicle devices

Rail vehicle devices have to fulfill national or international specifications such as EN/DIN 50155. Additionally, they may provide standardized communication interfaces as defined in IEC 61375. CiA has already developed dedicated CANopen profile specifications for rail vehicle communication architectures. These specifications describe the functional elements to be implemented in rail-vehicle devices:

  • For train vehicle control systems (CiA 421 series of documents)
  • For diesel engines (CiA 423 series of documents)
  • For auxiliary equipment (CiA 430 series of documents)
  • For door control systems (CiA 424 series of documents)
  • For external and internal light systems (CiA 426 and CiA 433 series of documents)
  • For passenger information control systems (EN 13149-4/5/6)

Further specifications are being developed. These will enable to manufacture devices dedicated to the railway  environment.
